We are looking for Mental Health support workers to fill out shifts for participants. Shifts are available in Glebe area and involves supporting a homeless person with psychosocial disability. Shifts are available Monday-Sunday 8am-12pm. Potentially workers can pick up to 25 hours per week, in various locations. Experience in supporting people with mental health conditions or undertaking courses related to disability industry/mental health/social work/psychology are essential.
The worker must be driving and have a reliable and fully insured car. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, has good listening skills, and be reliable, punctual and professional.
Mature candidates, people with diverse cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply, candidates with working or student visas are welcome. The role will suit psychology/social worker students or people that undertake Certificate IV in community services/mental health/disability. The role will suit people who has lived expirience or expirience supporting people with mental health conditions.
Hours of work:
4 hours per shift, 8am-12 pm. Potentially workers can pick up more working hours in various locations.
The responsibilities include:
Providing companionship to participants, accompanying and transporting them to and from appointments, recreational activities, or other sites that they required
Assisting client with grocery shopping
Developing skills of interest and daily living skills
Assisting clients to achieve their goals and enhance their independence
Reporting service progression, observation and incident reporting in professional, timely and accurate manner
To successfully perform this role, you will need:
Certificate of Mental Health/Disability or equivalent or willingness to enrol or presently studying related field.
Experience supporting people with mental health conditions is necessary
Expirience and understanding of risks assessment, incident reporting, timely progress notes
Understanding and following Work, Health and Safety policies and procedures
Understanding and implementing the concept of professional boundaries and ethical behaviour
Understanding triggers and being familiar with a behaviour support plan (desirable)
Mental Health First Aid (desirable)
Essential requirements:
National Police check
Working With Children Check
First Aid Certification
Australian Driver’s License and access to a reliable and insured car
