Our Deflector Processing Team is looking for an experienced Mill Foreman.

Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits.

Reporting to the Processing Manager, the Mill Foreman will develop and implement operational practices & strategies that drive business excellence, while fostering a culture of pride and accountability within our Operations team. Reporting to the Processing Manager and working closely with the Maintenance and Metallurgy teams, you will oversee operational aspects of the ROM, Processing plant, Water services and TSF to ensure operator performance, production and cost targets are achieved in a safe and efficient manner.

This position will be offered on a 15:13 FIFO roster from Perth.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Liaise with all stakeholders internally and externally to maximise plant and equipment utilisation.
  • Ensure compliance with Vault Minerals safety policies and the Mines Safety and Inspection Act (1994), Mines Safety and Inspection Regulations (1995) and other appropriate legislation.
  • Liaise with the Mill Training Co-ordinator to review and prioritise the training matrix to ensure all plant personnel are suitably trained and development plans are prepared and identified for each operator.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the process plant to ensure production objectives are met by prioritising operational/maintenance and electrical priorities.
  • Ensure cohesive management and operational processes occur across both rosters through effective consultation and communication with the other Mill Foreman.
  • Liaise with the Mill Shift Supervisors to ensure all plant crews have adequate manning coverage, skills and competencies.
  • Optimise plant performance in each section of the process plant, including crushing, grinding, flotation, dewatering, concentrate bagging & containerising, tailings dams and water circuits. Check for critical issues at tell tail points ie. size of scats in scats bay (is there a screen issue?) etc. and take appropriate action.
  • Undertake site wide morning inspections to confirm the plant and required safety systems are operational.
  • Insist upon an exemplary standard of housekeeping from subordinates. As part of the daily site wide morning walk-around ensure housekeeping is maintained to a high standard, including signage, hoses, rubbish, and equipment working to design intent.
  • Monitor and operate the tailings storage facilities and water systems to ensure there are no breaches of company procedures, legislation or environmental regulations.
  • Ensure pre-starts are conducted at the beginning of each shift and report all electrical & mechanical faults and breakdowns to the Maintenance team in a timely manner.
  • Ensure plant monthly, weekly and daily inspections occur and that accurate documentation/log sheets are completed and submitted in a timely manner.

About You

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Gold Ore processing facility, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience and working knowledge in operating a gold plant is essential for competent operation in the following sections; Floatation, Crushing, Grinding, Leaching (CIP), Gravity/Gold Room, Reagents and TSFand developing processing procedures and systems (including DCS).
  • Experience in managing performance standards and instilling accountability
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and communication skills, proven across both day to day works and project deliveries.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020, and Work Health and Safety (Mines) regulations 2022
  • Completion of minimum requirements of Section 26 statutory requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of MS office suite, Chemwatch, Pronto, Citect, INX suite, Pi knowledge or similar platform. Demonstrable experience in control system automation and loop tuning will be highly regarded.
  • Hold a Western Australia C Class driver’s licence, Confined Space and Working at Heights tickets are essential.
  • Possess Cert IV in training and assessing and Cert IV in Resource Processing (Desirable)
  • Hold nationally accredited tickets in Mobile Plant (Forklift, Loader, Excavator, Skid Steer) would be advantageous.
