Multi Faith Officer

Curtin University
$93,066 - $98,730 a year
Perth, Western Australia
Contract
May 30, 2025

Job Reference: 1007703

About the Role:

Are you passionate about fostering inclusion, connection, and cultural understanding? As a Multi Faith Officer, you’ll be at the heart of our vibrant, diverse campus community - championing spiritual wellbeing and intercultural respect.

In this role, you will play a key role in supporting Curtin University's commitment to cultural diversity and global perspectives by coordinating services that respond to the spiritual needs of students. Acting as a vital link between Student Life and Community and a wide range of religious and spiritual groups, you will help create an inclusive, welcoming environment where all students feel respected, supported, and a sense of belonging.

Success in this role requires the ability to work across diverse faith traditions, supporting all religions and a commitment to separating personal beliefs from professional responsibilities. A broad understanding of different religions and spiritual practices is essential, as is the capacity to engage meaningfully with Curtin’s diverse student cohort and support individuals in their own spiritual journeys.

If you're looking for a meaningful, student-centred role where you can celebrate difference and foster inclusion, this is your opportunity to make a real difference.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinate and promote campus-based activities led by voluntary or externally sponsored spiritual representatives from diverse religions, supporting students through the Associate Staff Chaplaincy service.
  • Provide support, equity advice and guidance on matters of faith and religion to students and all religious groups on campus, fostering understanding of Curtin’s inclusive values and diverse community.
  • Manage the practical and digital space requirements of religious groups and leaders on campus.
  • Deliver confidential, multi-faith pastoral care to students, with referrals to internal and external support services as needed.
  • Advise University areas on religious and equity matters, including training, advocacy, critical incident support, and general guidance on faith-related issues.
We are looking for:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and subsequent work experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • The ability to work effectively in a secular environment while supporting the spiritual and religious needs of a diverse student and staff community.
  • Experience in client-centred pastoral care and/or counselling, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage respectfully with individuals from a range of cultural and faith backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate within a diverse and inclusive team environment.
Role Requirements:
  • As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
  • Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction
  • This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check
