Are you passionate about community safety and working in and with the community? Become part of our multi-disciplinary team and make a meaningful impact in the Banyule community. In this diverse and community focused role you collaborate with a team to manage the administration and enforcement of local legislation, helping to ensure community well-being. You’ll be providing advice and assistance to residents and the public regarding policies, permit requests, and relevant legislation. You’ll also:

  • Enforce key provisions, including the Domestic Animal Act, Environmental Protection Act, and Council’s General Local Law, to maintain compliance and standards.
  • Promote community safety and fire prevention by applying the Country Fire Act 1958 and Fire Rescue Victoria Act 1958.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external agencies, to enhance service delivery.

What you'll bring – skills and experience we are looking for:

  • Certificate IV in Municipal Law Enforcement, or equivalent and / or relevant experience in a Municipal Laws environment.
  • Proven ability to conduct investigations, take appropriate enforcement action and where necessary conduct interviews and prepare briefs of evidence and present evidence in a court of law.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with demonstrated ability in dealing with a broad range of the community in a people-focused role.
  • A person who’s proactive and committed to creating a positive impact in the community.
  • A team player who values collaboration and understands the importance of legislative compliance and enforcement.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check

What we offer:

  • A permanent full-time role, with a monthly Rostered Day Off (RDO).
  • Salary range $77,785.93 to $90,083.32 per annum plus super.
  • Flexible work arrangements that support personal well-being alongside professional commitments.
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/2 weeks of paid parental leave – partner.
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including health and well-being initiatives.
