Zhilink Pty Ltd has been growing cherries in Tasmania for about 10 years. We have two cherry orchards located in Richmond and Sorell. We specialize in producing premium cherries, with varieties like Lapin, Stella, and Sweetheart.
About the role:
We are seeking a full-time nurseryperson who is hardworking, self-motivated with production nursery experience. Your key duties include:
- Prepare potting media for sowing and planting operations.
- Selects and plants cuttings.
- Propagation with cuttings (asexual propagation), trimming (roots), planting and pruning propagated plants as required.
- Responsible for budding and grafting vegetative material.
- Trim plants, de-sucker, pollenate (manually as required), thinning plants for optimum production.
- Ground preparation, including leveling, installation of drip feed fertigation and irrigation systems for transplants.
- Manual watering and controlling of drip irrigation and sprinkler systems, operation of pumps for irrigation management.
- Pre-plant herbicide application and management of weeds throughout production cycle, including identifying and removal of dead plants and weeds.
- Apply herbicides, fungicides and insecticides as well use of bio insecticides to manage biological control of pests.
- Apply treatments to remedy nutrient and plant disorders affecting nursery plants
- Record keeping for plants, orders, fertilizer use and chemical use.
- Provide monthly and annual reports.
- Supervised farm hand.
Qualifications and experience required:
- At least a certificate IV in Horticulture, Production, Agriculture or a related field is required.
- At least one year relevant experience in a production or agricultural role.
- Great work ethic, reliable, punctual, proactive and ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills.
- Prepared to work in different weather conditions.
- Must have drivers license.
This position is only open to Australian citizen and Australian Permanent Residency applicants.
Remuneration:
Salary package will be $65,000 to $75,000 per annum plus superannuation.
