Officer Marketing and Communications - Fixed Term, Maternity Leave

What we are looking for:
Gympie Regional Council has an exciting, fixed term, Maternity leave opportunity through to June 2026 as an Officer Marketing & Communications. The successful applicant will create and deliver production, implementation and rollout of effective external communication, marketing and engagement strategies in a team environment.
The role will require the use of various mediums, understanding the importance of local government and their associated business unit communications and the dissemination to staff, residents, stakeholders and community throughout the region, working in partnership to raise Gympie Regional Council's and the region's profile.
This role will support communications, marketing and branding projects across the unit.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Some experience developing, planning and delivering communications strategies.
- Reputational risk management experience.
- Experience in producing commercial print and electronic publications.
- Firm understanding of brand development, layout and style guides.
- High level verbal and written communication skills.
- Media and stakeholder relationship management experience.
- Working within a fast-moving team, understanding the needs of the team and supporting.
- Understanding of the workings and complexity of local government.
- Ability to write content and copy for various mediums (including media) within tight deadlines.
- To fit into a team environment, juggling competing deadlines whilst under pressure.
- Coordination of teamwork, central point for collating information on projects.
- To work proactively.
- Understanding the importance of a community focused unit.
- Enthusiasm to learn and gain experience in a functional marketing and communications team.
Essential Requirements:
- To work within tight deadlines
- Media releases and liaison with external media Press, Radio, Tv and digital mediums.
- Creation and production of strategies and copy for all mediums. This includes and is not limited to, traditional media, websites, posters, flyers, billboards, launches, photography and videography, reporting, and digital content.
- Some campaign and marketing strategy, production and coordination: writing, production, production, coordination, management and delivery across directorates.
- Data entry for website/s and uploading of content.
- Social media management and content creation.
- Project and campaign writing, production, coordination and management across all directorates.
