About the role
Wesley Mission has a long-established history in providing Out of Home Care across NSW. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work with Carers, Children, and Young People Coffs Harbour OOHC Team.
Essential criteria
- Degree in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology or related discipline (minimum bachelor’s degree)
- Experience working with children and families and/or in the OOHC field
- Previous experience in Staff supervision
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills and experience managing difficult behaviours
- Knowledge of NSW Out-of-Home Care Standards and a commitment to maintaining accreditation
- Working within a strength-based framework to increase children and young people's resilience and positive lifestyle outcomes, with a comprehensive understanding of key risk factors and the effect of trauma on childhood development.
- Demonstrated ability to engage with children/young people/carers where there are high and complex needs and work in partnership with them to achieve their goals.
- Demonstrated high level communication (written and oral), negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Sound record keeping, data collection and management, statistical analysis, report writing and computer skills including an ability to concisely and accurately record all key interactions and case-notes.
- Working collaboratively with other internal services and external stakeholders to achieve client needs and therapeutic and developmental goals.
- flexible working hours including some evenings and weekends
- current unrestricted driver’s licence
Desirable criteria
- knowledge of therapeutic care frameworks
- preferable good local connection and knowledge local resources and services
Remuneration
Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. The agency provides regular supervision and support for all staff and opportunities for professional development.
