What you'll be doing
To provide secretarial services to the Orthopaedic Department, including Senior Staff Specialists and the Department Head. This includes word processing, electronic ordering, screening telephone calls, making patient appointments, patient billing, facilitation of conference leave, maintenance of office equipment, maintenance of files and the use of various computer software programs. Additional Orthopaedic Departmental activities may be requested as required. Attending subspecialty meetings optimising theatre lists by participation in new billable clinics not covered by the Outpatient department. Facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety procedures including, mandatory radiation safety compliance according to AOA guidelines.
  • Recent secretarial experience
  • Well-developed organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Medical Terminology is desirable
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
  • Computer skills including word processing
  • Ability to prioritise work and work under broad supervision but also independently
  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
