We are seeking motivated, empathetic and driven social worker to join our well respected team at Ryde Hospital. This role offers an opportunity to provide palliative social work services across ED, ICU and acute wards as well as mentoring and support to MDT around end of life issues.
Employment Type: Temporary Part Time until 13 July 2026 (with possibility of ongoing employment)

Remuneration: $56.69 - $58.52 per hour

Social Work Department, Ryde Hospital
Ryde Hospital is having an incredible $479 million complete hospital redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community.
The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will result in new health facilities and enhanced services including emergency, ICU/critical care, inpatient units, outpatient/ambulatory care services and much more.
Construction commenced in early 2023, and will provide you with a wonderful and exciting opportunity to be part of the Ryde team to change the future health services for the Ryde Community completely.
What you'll be doing
The development and provision of comprehensive bereavement support, psychosocial and connected care towards and at the end of life and / or palliative care period.
This position will provide a social work service at an advanced level of clinical practice to inpatients, outpatients, their families and carers.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteri
- Consistently demonstrates behaviours that reinforce the CORE Values of our organisation; Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment. Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them. NSW Drivers Licence.
- Tertiary qualifications or Master degree in Social Work and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics; demonstrated experience as a Social Worker Level 2 or above.
- Demonstrate extensive specialist knowledge and experience at a Level 2 in life limiting illness in inpatient and outpatient palliative care.
- Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in comprehensive psycho-social assessments, counselling and therapeutic interventions, complex clinical casework, group work, advocacy and discharge planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as a collaborative member of multiple interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and implement quality improvement and research activities.
- Demonstrated experience in the provision of supervision of social workers and social work students.
- Demonstrated well developed skills in written and verbal communication, computer literacy, time management, prioritisation, liaison and negotiation.
