The Opportunity
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Team Leader Parks and Garden to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.
Reporting to the Works Coordinator - Recreation, you will be responsible for planning & co-ordinating the maintenance of Council’s parks, gardens & streetscapes including Queen Elizabeth Park, Eskbank House and other gardens throughout the outlying villages of the LGA
More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):
- Manage Park & Garden maintenance
- Implement seasonal routine garden maintenance program including planting annual flower beds, mowing, pruning, hedging, mulching, fertiliser application & weed control
- Establish new gardens
- Identify & implement pest & disease management program including chemical application
- Provide knowledge on plant identification & growing requirements
- Provide leadership & on the job training
About you
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Cert III in Horticulture (or equivalent)
- Traffic Control - TCR & ITMP
- General Induction for Construction Work Certificate (White Card)
- Relevant experience n horticulture area
- Knowledge and understanding of WHS associated requirements
- Demonstrated leadership, supervisory & communication skills for effective interaction with manager/coordinator, staff and public to achieve desired outcomes
- Chainsaw - Crosscut
- Relevant experience in the horticulture area
In addition, an ideal candidate would have experience in Chemcert (or willing to obtain), current first aid.
