The opportunity

Our Environment, Climate and Sustainability team in Queensland is recruiting for a Principal Environmental Planner to join our growing team in Brisbane. Develop your career within our highly successful global business and work with our local and national colleagues. With a growing pipeline of work in the transport, water, energy and defence spaces, we are seeking a highly motivated individual that wants to be part of a growing team! The role will be integral to our growing team working on some of the largest most complex energy and transport projects across the country. Our team also works on major projects in our defence and water sectors, being an integral part of multidisciplinary teams.
The Opportunity:
- Provide planning and environmental advice and prepare approval applications for a variety of projects including large and small scale infrastructure, and energy projects.
- Use technical expertise to provide environmental planning and regulatory advice to clients to inform project planning and delivery
- Oversee and undertake the preparation of planning and environmental assessments and approvals, feasibility studies, permitting and licensing documentation and support the development of technical assessments, environmental management plans and other documents to a high standard.
- Contributing to the delivery of environmental approvals projects, reporting, planning approvals, impact assessments and related technical studies.
- Help drive the growth of the E&S team.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior members of the team
- Manage and/or liaise with environment consultants and other planning consultants, to ensure successful delivery of a project
- Work collaboratively as part of an integrated advisory sector and across project teams.
- Contribute to identifying new project opportunities, develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Support the development of proposals and bid submissions.
- Contribute to, and coordinating the delivery of planning assessments, environmental studies and documentation for the attainment of local, state, and federal environmental approvals
What can you bring to the team
- Relevant Tertiary qualification in Town/Urban Planning, environmental science/engineering or related field is essential.
- Minimum 8+ years’ experience in town planning, environmental and planning approvals, and environmental impact assessment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Queensland and Commonwealth planning and environmental approvals framework, process and legislation, relevant to infrastructure projects.
- Experience engaging with regulators to progress planning and environmental approvals, including local government, DSDIP, DETSI, DAF and DCCEEW.
- Project management skills to achieve high quality delivery outcomes for approvals.
- Manage the delivery of reports, approval applications and projects
- Experience providing strategic environmental planning and compliance advice, and undertaking planning and environmental assessments and obtaining approvals for energy/renewable projects
- Experience working in a consulting environment with MID process ideal.
