About Innovation Delivery Team

The Innovation Delivery team deeply partners with our Assets, Exploration and other Functional teams to future-proof the Mining Industry.

The Delivery team facilitates business relationships to ensure we are focussed on the opportunities that matter through our Business Integration team and enables the successful design, deployment and scaling of demonstration projects on site, in collaboration with BHP Asset teams through our Innovation Project Delivery Office (IPDO).

We work alongside our ecosystem team and product development teams to ensure that novel technologies are de-risked and succeed within BHP.
About the Role

As a Principal Innovation Project Delivery Office (IPDO), you will be accountable for end-to-end delivery of portfolio initiatives, managing the transition from product development through to on-site pilot demonstration. Responsibilities include overseeing planning, scheduling, cost estimating and execution while ensuring adherence to Think & Act Differently (TAD) and BHP governance frameworks.

You will collaborate closely with personnel from Asset projects, operations and technology, TAD functions, and other functional teams within BHP to ensure alignment of pilots with Asset customers, developing pilot execution plans and establishing statements of requirements and investment requests in partnership with TAD and Asset SMEs and delivery of those pilots within the approved statement of requirement.

Reporting to the Manager Innovation Project Delivery Office (PDO) MinAu, your key deliverables include:

  • Developing integrated project deliverables and integrating work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition from gating through to project closure.
  • Defining project milestones and tasks, identifying critical activities and monitoring schedules.
  • Monitoring and managing project performance in line with safety standards, requirements, budget and scope.
  • Monitoring contract execution to maximise performance and mitigate exposure and risk.
  • Identifying and assessing risks and issues, making risk-informed decisions and using BHP's risk management framework.
  • Managing the development and acceptance of Handover and Project Closeout deliverables for the next phase.
  • Proactively planning for potential changes/disruptions and developing contingency plans to minimise risk.
  • Confirming that business objectives align with project/stakeholder requirements to develop sustainable plans that deliver maximum value across complex projects at BHP.
  • Stiving to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and zero waste.
  • Monthly project reporting, including cost and schedule tracking and forecasting
About You

As the successful applicant you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Extensive experience working with operational Assets in Mining, ideally experience with underground mining in hard rock environments.
  • Qualifications in an Engineering discipline and/or Project Management.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including cost and schedule development and control.
  • A deep understanding of a day in the life of our partners in the Assets, with an appreciation of the competing priorities and tensions which may impact the priority given to innovative trials, and the capability to successfully navigate those competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with a broad range of internal stakeholders and technical experts.
  • Proficiency in technical document writing, scheduling, cost control and risk management.
  • Experience resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination across departments.
  • Experience in Mining or related fields in an operational/engineering role in autonomous environments is desirable.
