Georges River Council has an exciting opportunity for a Procurement and Contracts Officer to join the Financial team, based in Hurstville.


About The Role

As the Procurement and Contracts Officer you will be responsible for supporting the Procurement and Finance teams with procurement and contract activities across the whole of council. A key element of this role is effective partnering and engagement with all necessary internal and external stakeholders.

In this role you will be responsible for drafting Requests for Quotation, Tenders, and other relevant documentation, as well as facilitating and providing guidance on low-value or low-risk procurement processes. The role also involves attending team meetings and tender briefings, assisting in the maintenance and monitoring of the Council’s e-Procurement platform, and liaising with both internal stakeholders and external bodies such as Local Government Procurement and the Sydney South Regional Organisation of Councils You are someone who has demonstrated ability to function with minimal supervision and effective time management skills with the ability to organise own work and to establish priorities and meet performance requirements. You are also someone who is committed to providing great service to both internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will have

  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships
  • Knowledge of Local Govt Act – Section 55 Tendering and Council’s Procurement and Contract Mgt Policies
  • High level problem solving, computer literacy (MS Office, CM9, Tech 1) and analytical skills

Desirable

  • Some experience in Local Government procurement activities
