The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Innovation team is looking for Product Evaluation Technologist in our Product, Innovation and Technology team based in Port Kembla.  We deliver superior steel products including, COLORBOND®, TRUECORE®, ZINCALUME® and innovative solutions to the Australian building materials market.

In this niche role, you’ll be engaged in a variety of hands-on problem solving and technical activities with high visibility outcomes for BlueScope and our building industry partners.  As someone who brings rigor and structure to the task at hand, you’ll be a self-directed thinker who is able to navigate complexity and get things done.   You’ll work closely with subject matter experts to investigate the performance of steel products and steel building systems when applied across the building and construction industry.  You will assemble the evidence base for technical advice and information that will be utilised in the representation of our products in industry regulations and standards as well as to inform our industry partners on the best practice performance of the wide range of steel building products we make, including roofing, framing and wall cladding.

Coming from a Materials Science, Building Product Testing, Building Science consultancy or similar profession, you will bring your technical ability, problem solving skills and your highly consultative nature to the role. You will also have:

We welcome individuals that are interesting in exploring building system performance and building science or are familiar with assembling performance solutions to the National Construction Code.  However, this isn’t necessary as it is your industry experience and highly consultative nature that is desirable.
