The Home Buying Core Manufacturing Crew has end to end responsibility for the Commonwealth Bank’s home loans core home loan products, pricing, and credit risk together with analytics and modelling. We support the proprietary, digital, and third-party channels to meet our customers’ home ownership goals.
Key responsibilities of the Crew include :-
- Creating new and enhancing the existing suite of core home loans product and features
- Pricing strategy and optimisation with a view to achieving the right balance between volume growth and margin trade-off
- Credit risk strategy management and optimisation to achieve sound lending decisions and grow a quality home loan portfolio
- Using advanced analytics and machine learning models to support our credit risk and pricing strategies

You will report to the Crew Lead, Core Manufacturing Crew. As Product Owner for Credit Risk Model Development and Monitoring, you will lead the development, enhancement, and monitoring of credit risk models within the Home Buying Core Manufacturing Crew. Your work will directly influence the quality and performance of the home loan portfolio by using advanced analytics and machine learning to drive sound lending decisions.
You will play a pivotal and innovative role in the inclusion of data and AI into the credit risk strategy to uplift credit risk decision quality, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience, while ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and organisational risk appetite. Your leadership will help foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and customer obsession across the crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Use advanced analytics and machine learning to develop, enhance, and monitor key credit risk models including but not limited to Home Loan Application and Behavioural Scorecards and Profitability Models.
- Drive the use of agentic and generative AI to streamline and innovate credit risk processes, while meeting regulatory expectations and organisational risk appetite.
- Lead a high-performing squad of Decision Scientists , fostering a psychologically safe and inclusive environment that encourages innovation and accountability.
- Build the product roadmap and prioritise the Squad backlog in collaboration with key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
- Drive iterative improvements through product discovery techniques, such as feasibility assessments and experimentation.
- Manage dependencies, risks, and compliance obligations ensuring adherence to internal frameworks (e.g. Group Model Policy, Change Management Risk Standard) and external regulatory standards.
- Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across Finance, Risk Management, and the Home Buying Core Manufacturing Crew Credit Risk Value Stream to ensure seamless delivery of initiatives and resolution of issues
We’re interested in hearing from people who have:
- Experience in Retail Credit Risk or Retail Credit Modelling is essential
- Experience managing decision science and advanced analytics teams
- Ability to translate a product vision into a roadmap
- Commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills
- Advanced written and oral communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts using simple language.
