What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for a motivated and reliable Production Hand to join our passionate team dedicated to crafting premium smallgoods and salami. You'll be hands-on in all stages of our production process — from preparing raw ingredients to operating specialised equipment, and ensuring the final product meets our high-quality standards.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with their hands, values quality craftsmanship, and thrives in a supportive team environment.
The Role
Daily Production Tasks:
- Inspect deliveries and complete quality/temperature checks as needed.
- Prepare raw meat by deboning, trimming, sorting, and more.
- Operate a range of production machinery (mincers, mixers, fillers, clippers, tumblers).
- Follow detailed processes to create premium salami and smallgoods — mixing, seasoning, casing, hanging, and smoking.
- Maintain accurate records and assist with daily opening and closing procedures.
- Manage stock using FIFO principles and report inventory levels for reordering.
- Keep the plant, machinery, and work area clean and organised.
- Contribute to our commitment to recycling and sustainable waste management.
Food Safety & Hygiene:
- Adhere to all relevant food safety regulations and company guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic workspace to prevent cross-contamination.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in routine cleaning and sanitation throughout the day.
About YOU:
We value skills, attitude, and a willingness to learn. Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong knife skills (especially boning, trimming) are highly regarded
- Experience or knowledge in food handling or production
- Physical fitness and ability to carry out manual tasks (lifting, moving, pushing)
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude — but also able to work independently
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under supervision
- Flexible, adaptable, and open to learning
- Forklift license preferable
