The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
The Operational Policy, School Engagement and Compliance (OPSEC) Division has a collective focus on reducing administrative and compliance burden for schools, improving policy and compliance support and streamlining the volume and timing of communications to schools.
About the Role
The Project Officer position is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in government while working in a supportive and dedicated team that is passionate about helping school leaders make a difference every day.
In this role, you will provide vital administrative and project support across the division, including:
- Managing shared inboxes and responding to enquiries from schools and corporate program areas
- Maintaining and updating databases and records
- Collating and preparing reporting data
- Publishing and updating web content
- Coordinating and supporting meetings and events
- Identifying and contributing to process improvements
You will work flexibly across various units within the OPSEC division, supporting operational activities, helping the team deliver on its objectives, and contributing to the smooth running of day-to-day operations.
Key Attributes
We are looking for a Project Officer who can demonstrate:
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to a changing work environment
- A customer-focused approach, with experience understanding client needs and delivering high-quality outcomes
- The ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to solve problems and achieve shared goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to explain concepts and policies, conduct research, prepare clear reports and presentations, and contribute to decision-making
- An understanding of how policies guide decisions and actions within the education sector
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- experience or knowledge of Victorian Government administrative processes.
- experience working with Microsoft SharePoint and Salesforce.
