Primary objective
Provide high quality project management and coordination in enhancing local community emergency planning relating heatwave
hazard, aligning to the broader NT Emergency Management Arrangements.
Context statement
NT Health is the Hazard Management Authority and Controlling Authority for Heatwave Hazard. Project is to assist and support
Local Controller and Local Emergency Management Committees develop local emergency planning associated with heat health
warnings that will be incorporated into existing Local Emergency Plans.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Deliver a project to enhance local community (emergency) planning relating to heatwave hazard aligned to the project plan.
2. Provide project milestone reports to the manager of the Northern Territory Risk Reduction Program manager as required under
the project’s agreement.
3. Implement consultation with Regional Controllers, key internal and external stakeholders in relation to the governance for
Controlling Authorities and activation of local arrangements during heatwave incidents
4. Collaborate with NT Health heatwave subject matter expertise, NTES and Local Controllers in the reassessing local heatwave
risk ratings.
5. In consultation with NTES develop templates/factsheets and relevant documentation to assist local emergency heatwave
planning.
6. Work with Local Controllers and Local Emergency Committees to assist in the development of community heatwave actions
plans and mitigation strategies.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Understanding of grant or program monitoring, reporting and assessment expertise, including the ability to execute, manage
and acquit funding agreements.
2. Demonstrated experience building and collaborating with external and internal stakeholder networks, as well the ability to
engage with people from a diverse range of social and cultural backgrounds, including remote communities.
3. Demonstrated high level project management and organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, manage changing
and competing tasks and priorities within required timeframes, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
4. Well-developed oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to prepare high-level correspondence and assist the
development of local community (emergency) action plans.
5. An ability to travel within the Territory (including remote communities) as required.
Desirable
1. Understanding of the NT Emergency Management arrangement and risk profile, experience working in an emergency
environment including emergency plan development and exercise writing.
2. Qualification in a relevant discipline, including project management, policy development, emergency management or similar.
