The Commission is seeking a full-time, non-ongoing APS6 Project Officer, Diagnostic Imaging and Pathology. This role is non-ongoing for a period of 24 months.

Information on this vacancy and how to apply can be found in the link below. Applications for this role will close 11.59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST), Tuesday 12 August 2025.

The National Standards Program is responsible for the development and maintenance of national safety and quality standards, such as the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS Standards). This program also maintains the Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation (AHSSQA) Scheme which operationalises the national safety and quality standards.

The Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme and the National Pathology Accreditation Scheme were transferred to the Commission from the Department of Health, Disability and Aging in 2021. Since then, the Commission has undertaken extensive consultation with industry and professional bodies, subject matter experts, and consumers to revise the standards and the scheme. In 2024, the standards were released for public consultation, and targeted consultation with industry and professional bodies will commence for the accreditation scheme.
The Project Officer will work with the Senior Project Officer and the Program Manager to support developing and implementing the diagnostic imaging and pathology accreditation schemes and standards. This work will involve project management, organising and assisting with public consultation processes, providing secretariat support to program committees, writing reports, briefings, and other documents, analysing information, and providing advice on procedures and policy.
Duties of the Project Officer will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Undertake project management activities including the planning, documenting and implementing of the program, monitoring and reporting on progress and project milestones, and proactively identifying solutions.
  • Research, review and analyse relevant information such as data, reports, websites and other published material to support the development of projects.
  • Collate, edit and draft meeting papers, correspondence, presentations, briefing notes, minutes and other written materials for a range of audiences.
  • Provide secretariat support for committees and expert groups, including preparation of agenda papers, minutes and other administrative tasks.
  • Collaborate with other team members and other program teams within the Commission to support the work of the team.
  • Undertake procurement and contract management activities including financial administration, budget preparation and monitoring as necessary.
  • Work with the Program Director, the project team and other relevant stakeholders on updates related to the progress and strategic implications.
  • Support the work of the National Standards Team and the broader Commission, as required.
  • Other duties as required which may include projects and providing assistance to the Commission’s corporate functions, such as assistance with reception duties.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and research skills, including demonstrated sound judgement and innovative problem solving skills.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to prepare documents including briefing papers, reviews, submissions, correspondence and meeting papers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively and develop productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Effective teamwork skills including the ability to work collaboratively to achieve results and outcomes in a timely manner.
