Position summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Purchasing & Commercial Manager to drive commercial, procurement, and contract management strategies across their operations. This role blends hands-on commercial administration with strategic leadership, overseeing supplier negotiations, contracts, and purchasing while supporting executive-level decision-making. You’ll manage a small, high-performing team and play a pivotal role in delivering operational and financial outcomes.

About the role
As the Purchasing & Commercial Manager, you’ll be responsible for:
- Leading contract drafting, negotiation, and administration to ensure commercial and legal compliance
- Developing and executing procurement strategies that deliver cost-effective, high-quality outcomes
- Supporting business case development, cost modelling, and financial analysis for senior management
- Managing supplier relationships and overseeing logistics and supply chain coordination
- Working closely with operational teams to align agreements with business priorities
- Preparing briefing materials and supporting high-level stakeholder engagements, including Traditional Owners and government agencies
- Coaching and developing a small team of Purchasing Officers
- Driving process improvement and supporting the introduction of technology and automation to improve efficiency
About you
We’re looking for a commercially focused leader who thrives in a resource-driven operational environment. Ideally, you will have:
- A degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in commercial and contract management within the mining, resources, or industrial sectors
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and contract drafting skills
- Demonstrated experience in procurement and supply chain oversight
- Financial acumen and the ability to prepare business cases and cost models
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and manage senior stakeholders
- Experience leading and mentoring small teams
- A proactive, solutions-driven approach and the ambition to grow into senior leadership roles
