As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and caring home environment. By providing support in their daily lives, you will help them develop practical and social skills while serving as a role model to prepare them for adulthood. Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Mentor and teach young people essential life skills.
- Build rapport and trust, acting as a positive and reliable role model
- Maintain resilience to overcome challenging behaviour
- Guide young people towards positive behaviors using redirection and negotiation techniques.
- Form nurturing relationships through active engagement.
- Ensure the young person's essential needs are met, including a balanced diet, hygiene prompts, school support, and positive life experiences.
- Promote independent living skills, such as cooking, budgeting, shopping, and household maintenance.
- Engage young people in activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth.
- Support children/young people in building their capacity to be a part of their community
- Maintain a clean and safe home environment.
Requirements:
- Holds a Certificate IV in Youth Work, Child, Youth and Family Intervention, Community Services, or a relevant qualification (or be currently working towards it).
- Demonstrates the ability to implement strategies and tactics to de-escalate challenging behaviors.
- Has expertise in engaging
- Holds a driver's license and has access to a vehicle
- Has a Working With Children Check / Blue Card.
- Is available to work all shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights.
