Risk Manager
Melbourne Grammar School is seeking a Risk Manager who will be responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and support of appropriate risk management and compliance processes within the School in line with the School's Risk Management Strategy. The aim is to foster a positive risk management culture by ensuring the School upholds strong risk management standards, maintains effective governance through regular policy and register reviews, and complies with all legal and regulatory obligations.
This position is based at the South Yarra Campus but will have School-wide responsibility. The incumbent is expected to support the aims, policies and procedures and the philosophy of Melbourne Grammar School.
Context
Risk management is a core element of the School's educational activities and the School's approach to risk management is set out in its Risk Management Policy and Risk Management Framework, which are in turn supported by a detailed Risk Register and Risk Action Plans.
The Risk Manager is responsible for ensuring that the School continues to address risk in a systematic way, consistent with AS ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Principles and Guidelines, and legal and regulatory requirements. The role reports to the Director of Business & Finance, provides advice to the School Executive and School Council, and interacts with staff at all levels.
You will
Lead the development and implementation of the School’s Risk Management Policy and Framework, including maintaining the Risk Register and supporting systems.
Collaborate with School Executive to identify, assess, and prioritise risks, and support the implementation of mitigation strategies and Risk Action Plans.
Provide risk-related advice to staff, review risk assessments for school activities, and assist in policy development and review.
Support the Deputy Headmaster with the Critical Incident Management Plan and assist with insurance matters including claims and placements.
Advise on statutory and internal compliance requirements, manage government reporting tasks, and maintain the School’s Contracts Register.
Oversee OH&S systems, reporting, audits, and liaise with relevant authorities to ensure compliance and safety.
Deliver regular reports to leadership bodies, train staff on risk systems and responsibilities, and prepare external reports and budgets related to risk and compliance.
