The position of Emergency Services Support Officer is responsible for:

  • Providing a level of clinical care and make patient assessments within their agreed scope of clinical practice.
  • Responding to request for low acuity care and specialised transportation of patients within their allocated responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure service provision and operational activities are customer-focused, professionally conducted, and responsive to the needs of business partners and external clients.

Lead, develop, and foster a positive work culture based on SA Health's values, promoting customer service, learning, safety, diversity, and innovation.

Provide effective and timely operational clinical practice in line with safe systems of work and within the appropriate clinical framework, including assessing patients, initiating care, applying treatment pathways, and monitoring patients during transport.

Continuously develop clinical competencies, knowledge, and confidence in clinical practice by maintaining authority to practice as an ambulance officer and achieving desired proficiency levels.

Assess and apply appropriate resources and services required for ambulance practice, demonstrating critical thinking, problem-solving, operational and technical knowledge, and effective management of SAAS assets.

Comply with legal and ethical requirements, including maintaining confidentiality, adhering to mandatory reporting, applying common law principles, and cooperating with other health services.
