THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Safety Improvement and Investigation Advisor is accountable for ensuring the safety and health of employees through the delivery of professional safety services, promotion, and management of the Mine Safety Management System and the delivery in a timely and professional manner in regard to health and safety related matters.
This is a Permanent Full-Time position, on a FIFO 8:6 roster from Perth, WA
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain the Health and Safety Management Systems
- Assist frontline leaders in developing Health and Safety knowledge.
- Coaching all workforce on safety management
- Maintain INX database
- Assist Incident reporting through SRS
- Interface with internal and external parties, such as Contractor Representatives, Shutdowns, Projects Team, DEMIRS.
- Coaching Operational leads on Quality Interactions, including Planned Task Observations and Safety Conversations
- Conduct Health and Safety audits
- Facilitate risk assessments
- Lead Health and Safety Initiatives and improve safety management processes, such as Investigation Quality
- Coach personnel on safety tools such as task observations, Take 5, JSAs, inspections, and verifications.
- Participate in Prestart and Information (PSI) meetings, Health and Safety Representative committee (HSR's) meetings and Toolbox meetings.
- Facilitate incident investigations.
- Any other duties as directed by site Senior Health and Safety Advisor or Health and Safety Ops Manager.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in resource safety role
- Knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to the processes.
- Advanced PC skills and computer literacy i.e. Microsoft applications mainly excel/word
- Experience in Incident Investigation (ICAM certification - Essential Factors preferred)
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong commitment to safety and the environment.
