As the Safety Manager – VIC/TAS/SA, you’ll lead a skilled team of Regional Safety Advisors and Safety Coordinators to deliver best-in-class Health, Safety, and Environment (HS&E) outcomes across Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia. Your leadership will be central to embedding the Group Safety Strategy at a regional level, ensuring it translates into practical, measurable improvements on the frontline.
In this highly visible role, you’ll partner with stakeholders across the broader Qantas Group — including regulators, legal counsel, HR, and medical teams — to provide expert safety advice and support. You’ll also work hand-in-hand with our business unit partners to implement both local and national safety strategies, ensuring alignment, compliance, and a strong, proactive safety culture. By driving operational excellence, mitigating risks, and fostering safety leadership, you’ll play a pivotal role in protecting our people, our customers, and our reputation.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Extensive knowledge in WHS legislation and regulations for VIC, TAS and SA.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing high-performing teams, with a focus on coaching and talent management
- Safety and/or Health tertiary or postgraduate education.
- Experience in working within a business partnering or similar service model, including the ability to build constructive, effective and influential working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Good organisational skills, with ability to work on multiple tasks concurrently, under pressure and to meet deadlines
- The ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all levels of management and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience delivering cross functional WHS and/or operational safety outcomes.
