About the Role

As a Sanctions Control Manager, you will play a key role within Financial Crime Threat Management to help the bank manage the sanctions risks. In this role, you will be responsible for:

Identifying sanctions risks posed by the customers to ANZ through several trigger events such as payments declined to be processed by ANZ or other financial institutions, red flag activities, involvement in high-risk industries, and regulatory enforcement alerts
Where such risks have been identified, conducting sanctions enhanced due diligence (SEDD) on both customer transaction activities and their business and jurisdictional profiles
Recommending the appropriate controls to be maintained throughout the customer’s relationship with ANZ to ensure that the sanctions risks identified remain within the appetite

Role Type: Permanent, Full Time

What will your day look like?

Your key accountabilities will include:
Ensuring sanctions enhanced due diligence is conducted in a timely manner and in compliance with the ANZ Sanctions Policy and Standard
Building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across the first-line business units primarily Australia Retail and Commercial and Pacific as well as other Financial Crime teams to achieve the objectives of completing a comprehensive Sanctions Enhanced Due Diligence (SEDD)
Ensuring that the controls recommended as part of the sanctions enhanced due diligence are embedded or executed by the relevant teams
Reporting on the key metrics relating to the SEDD as tracked in various forums and providing insights
What will you bring?

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

Financial Crime investigation experience
Understanding of customer behaviour, counterparty risks, and jurisdictional risks
Strong decision-making skills
Time management and planning skills
Product knowledge, particularly cross-border trade and payments
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships
