Role Details

The Head Coach, Rowing is responsible for managing the daily training environment for South Australian-based, nationally identified and pathway rowing athletes. The role manages the leadership, day-to-day coaching, and operational management of the SASI high performance rowing program. The primary objective of the role is to develop athletes capable of national team selection and delivering podium performances at international benchmark events, including the Junior and Under 23 World Championships and the Paralympic Games. The Head Coach, Rowing will play a pivotal role in fostering a world-class training environment and will demonstrate a strong commitment to athlete development across both able-bodied and para rowing pathways. This includes collaborating with Rowing Australia's high performance team and providing strong management and coordination to South Australia's high performance coaches and rowing community to ensure alignment with the national high performance pathway. The position requires a strategic and dynamic leader who actively contributes to a positive performance culture. The successful candidate will seek ongoing professional development, demonstrate an interest and experience in talent identification and talent transfer, be a creative problem solver, and possess a strong understanding of the Australian sporting landscape and national stakeholder networks.

Special Conditions

  • The Incumbent will be required to participate in the Agency's Performance Management Program.
  • The Incumbent may be assigned to another position at this remuneration level or equivalent.
  • Some work outside of normal hours will be required.
  • Some intra and interstate travel involving overnight absences will be required.
  • This role requires a working with children check.
  • Nationally or internationally recognised coaching accreditation.
  • 5 plus years’ experience coaching at National/international level and a proven track record of coaching rowing athletes to podium performances at international benchmark events.
  • A current SA driver's licence and willingness to drive is essential.
  • A current boat licence is essential.
