Position: Satellite Telecommunications Lines Worker
Location: Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific (FIFO)
Salary: AUD $75,000 per annum
About the Role
Av-Comm Space & Defence is seeking a skilled Satellite Telecommunications Lines worker to support the construction, installation, and maintenance of satellite communications infrastructure across remote sites in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific. This role involves extensive travel (approx. 85%) and requires a high level of autonomy and technical expertise in satellite ground station systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation & Maintenance: Perform hands-on installation, testing, and repair of satellite communications systems including VSAT, Ku-band, C-band, TVRO, and solar-powered equipment.
- Infrastructure Works: Construct and maintain GPS Reference Stations and associated telecommunications lines and equipment.
- Site Operations: Lead on-site activities, ensuring compliance with WHS regulations and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS).
- Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate effectively with the Program Manager and site personnel, providing regular updates and resolving issues.
- Verification & Validation: Apply V&V procedures to ensure system integrity and performance.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Satellite telecommunications infrastructure, preferably with satellite ground station systems in Australia.
- Proven ability to work independently in remote environments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience in FIFO roles and remote site operations.
- Familiarity with Kymeta systems is highly desirable.
Qualifications & Certifications
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- White Card (Australia) & Site Safe Passport (New Zealand)
- EWP Over 11m training
- Working at Heights Certification
- Police Clearance (mandatory)
- 4811 Employment Screening (to be completed)
