About the Business Unit:

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria (CV) and its stakeholders. The CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and localised prison intelligence units (PIU) located at the public and private prison facilities in Victoria.

About the Role:

The position of Security Check Officer plays a critical role in safeguarding the integrity and security of Corrections Victoria (CV) and Youth Justice (YJ) by supporting the robust pre-employment screening process through interrogation of information systems.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Gathering, evaluating, documenting, and disseminating information and intelligence related to pre-employment screening for both current and prospective employees—across frontline and non-frontline roles, all the while ensuring timely and accurate delivery of this information to authorised stakeholders to support informed decision-making within Corrections Victoria and Youth Justice
  • Providing high-quality customer service and administrative support to internal and external stakeholders on a range of recruitment and security related matters
  • Providing accurate and timely advice on security and safety policies and processes.

These positions will work on a Monday-Friday roster.

The successful candidate will work within multiple CVIU work locations - these primarily include the Statewide Services Building (SSB) in Ravenhall, or 50 Franklin Street in Melbourne CBD.

About You:

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Experience in providing administrative support and customer service, ideally within a large or complex organisation, and in working with sensitive and confidential information
  • To manage candidate background checks, and in providing advice on policies and processes
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems, preferably Palantir and/or other data managing technologies
  • The ability to undertake finely detailed work in a precise and accurate manner
  • The ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment with high volume processing activity
  • Knowledge of the Corrections Act 1986, Corrections Regulations 2019, Serious Offenders Act 2018, Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or thematic knowledge
  • An existing Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance, otherwise one must be obtained within 12 months of employment. Australian Citizenship (highly desirable).
