About the role:
At MSS Security, we’re looking for a confident and capable Security Officer to become a trusted part of our Defence operations at a secured base in Victoria Barracks. This position plays a critical role in protecting Defence personnel, assets, and infrastructure through proactive patrols, access management, and strong on - site presence.
You’ll operate in a complex and sensitive environment where professionalism, discretion, and situational awareness are essential. More than just a frontline role, this is your chance to be part of a team contributing directly to Australia’s national security.

We’re looking for Security Officers who are calm under pressure, detail - oriented and understand the importance of consistency in secure environments. This isn’t your average security post - working on a Defence site means operating to a higher standard, where your professionalism and discretion have a direct impact on national operations.
About you:
- Australian Citizenship - required for Defence security clearance eligibility
- A current Security Licence valid in QLD
- Baseline Defence Clearance or must be willing to obtain a Baseline Clearance
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact confidently with Defence personnel and site stakeholders
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions
- A strong sense of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail
Duties:
- Access Control - Monitoring entry and exit points to ensure only authorised personnel are permitted on site.
- Foot Patrols - Conducting regular patrols to maintain situational awareness and deter potential threats.
- Stakeholder Liaison - Building rapport with Defence personnel, contractors, and visitors while delivering a strong security presence.
- Incident Response - Reacting promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, or suspicious behaviour.
- Compliance Monitoring - Ensuring site protocols and Defence security procedures are always followed.
- Reporting & Documentation - Accurately recording incidents, shift activities and observations in accordance with site requirements.
