Job Description

• 12 month FTC based in either Sydney or Melbourne

Primary Purpose
Rest’s Data, Technology and Delivery (DTD) business unit is accountable for planning and preparing the
organisation for the future through strategic technology innovation, as well as charting our business
strategy and executing for today and tomorrow.
Situated in the Business Analysis Practice, the Senior Business Analyst has two main priorities:
1. Supporting the Product Owner/Business Owner/Sponsors to ensure that business needs and
solutions options are understood
2. Ensuring the product/platform/project team have a shared understanding of the requirements,
through written and verbal communication.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

The Senior Business Analyst’s responsibilities are to:

• Deliver clearly defined requirements and user stories that accurately capture business systems, processes, and user needs by employing rigorous analysis, validation, and mapping techniques to drive successful project outcomes.
• Achieve business alignment and informed decision-making by engaging, negotiating, and prioritizing stakeholder requirements, resulting in a solid foundation for solution development.
• Facilitate shared understanding and streamlined processes by creating actionable, visually driven models and documentation—using techniques like process and story mapping—that translate complex logic and process flows into clear business rules.
• Maximize project impact and strategic value by managing a dynamic requirements lifecycle that prioritizes critical functionality based on complexity, feasibility, and overall business value.
• Enhance cross-functional collaboration and solution accuracy by maintaining clear, ongoing communication with Engineers, Testers, Change Managers, and external partners, ensuring all teams comprehensively understand business needs.
• Ensure project stability and success by proactively identifying, communicating, and proposing mitigations, in conjunction with the PM, to risks and issues through robust strategic risk management, aligned with established risk frameworks.

• Bachelor's degree
• IIBA® or similar industry standard certification preferred.

Domain Specific Experience:

1. Extensive investment industry knowledge gained in Front, Middle, and/or Back-office functions, with direct collaboration with Investment teams (for example, Portfolio Management or Asset Allocation).
   Solid understanding of investment asset classes, including Equities, Fixed Income, Private Markets, and/or Capital Market Instruments.

1. Familiarity with data tools and techniques relevant to investment reporting and analytics, including:
   • Understanding of data modelling concepts and visualisation tools
   • Experience overseeing the development and deployment of reports and dashboards
   • Ability to document data sources, report specifications, and related processes

1. Proven Business Analysis skills supporting functional, technical, and process change in an Investment Agile environment including:
   • Eliciting and accurately translating business requirements into user-stories in Jira and Confluence and validating so they’re ready for development
   • Collaborating with business, technology, vendors and Custodian teams to define the solution approach, identify solution components, and represent design options that achieve the desired future state.
   • Supporting the Product Owner in product backlog refinement.

Further required experience includes:

• Business domain knowledge in superannuation or financial services desirable
• Ability to understand business functionality, business complexity and interdependencies
• Ability to develop compelling business cases with accurate cost and effort estimations
• Highly developed strategic, analytical, problem solving, issues management and evaluation skills to deliver innovative solutions
• Understanding of modelling techniques, such as business process models and notation (BPMN), data flow diagrams and unified modelling language (UML®), SIPOC and value stream analysis etc
• Demonstrated experience in writing user stories and acceptance criteria
• Excellent communication, facilitation, consultation, negotiation and reporting/presentation skills, including the ability to influence people at all levels, and foster and maintain collaborative working relationships both within and outside the organisation
• Ability to quickly troubleshoot problems that may arise in work products
• Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritise workloads.
