The Active Living team are seeking to engage a Senior Sport and Recreation Officer who is passionate about collaborating with community, and is skilled in administration, and facility management.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the Coordinator Sport and Recreation to identify future sport and recreation capital; and asset renewal projects, including the preparation of project bids to ensure they align with Council’s strategic objectives and community needs.
- Develop project documentation in line with the Hume Project Management Framework, including project briefs, implementation plans, Gender Impact Assessments, consultation and community enagagement plans, as well as facility operation and activation plans.
- Ensure goods and services are obtained in accordance with the compliance requirements of Council’s Procurement Policy.
- Review and evaluate project submissions including active participation on nominated tender and quotation evaluation panels.
- Facilitate the Project Control Group meetings to report on key project milestones and seek endorsement for key project issues and decision points.
- Prepare monthly project status updates, identify issues and risks that may delay the delivery of key milestones or impact the available project budget.
- Implement project engagement strategies, ensuring effective consultation with key internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Demonstrated experience in the successful planning and implementation of sport and recreation capital works projects
- An understanding of sport and recreation, and project planning trends, theories and methodologies, including the ability to apply this in urban and rural environments.
- Well-developed skills in analysis and research methods, with the ability to appraise information (both statistical, written and spatial) by applying it within a sport and recreation setting.
- Highly developed computer skills with a practical focus on planning, data analysis and project management applications to support effective outcomes.
- Project management skills including a demonstrated ability to assist the Coordinator Sport and Recreation in leading a project team or working party to deliver sustainable, and integrated project planning and management outcomes.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, recommendations, presentations and other relevant correspondence.
Required Certifications & Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Sport and Recreation Administration, planning or project management with some relevant experience; or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
