About the Role:

This newly created 2-year fixed term position the Recreation Projects Officer supports the delivery and effective administration of recreation capital works projects and plays a key role in working with sporting clubs and community groups throughout recreation construction projects.

You will be responsible for:

  • The planning and delivery of recreation related capital projects
  • Project overview as the Project Sponsor or Service Manager
  • Providing high quality customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and delivery of community engagement activities
  • Production of technical Council reports
  • Developing and maintaining contact with State agencies, local governments, sporting clubs and volunteer groups.

This position reports to the Recreation Projects Coordinator.

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:

  • Tertiary qualifications in recreation, project management or a related field
  • Knowledge and expertise working with community groups and volunteers to deliver sporting and community infrastructure
  • Experience in project management, community engagement, communications and experience in local government will be highly valued
  • Ability to prepare project briefs for consultancy work and project manage the consultants as required within the approved budgets and timelines
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts, including the capacity to deal with and resolve conflict

Mandatory pre-employment requirements:

  • Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
  • Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
  • Hold a valid Victorian Driver's licence
