Where and how you can work
Our flagship campus is in Sydney. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.
What you’d be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
You will own and improve key marketing platforms like Cloudinary, Iconik, and Rainfocus, ensuring they’re stable, scalable, and tightly integrated.
You will design and deliver smart low/no-code automations that streamline marketing and creative workflows across the business.
You will collaborate with marketers, creatives, and product managers to understand their goals and build systems that solve real problems.
You will prototype and deploy AI-powered tools that accelerate content workflows—like tagging, enrichment, or creative asset management.
You will respond quickly and confidently to platform issues, especially during high-impact marketing events, helping keep things on track.
You will document solutions, train users, and share knowledge to help others work more effectively and independently.
You stay ahead of platform changes and security considerations, helping Canva adopt new features safely and strategically.

About the Group/Team
The Marketing Technology – Creative Solutions team builds tools and services that empower our marketing creative teams to reach more potential customers around the globe. We’re a cross-functional group of Marketing Operations specialists, a dedicated Taxonomist, a Product Manager, and Software Engineers, focused on creating scalable, intuitive solutions. Our mission is to help marketers do more with less by streamlining processes, managing a vast library of digital marketing assets, and delivering user-friendly platforms that enhance productivity and creativity.
About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, marketing technology, and creative enablement. As a Senior Systems Engineer in the Creative Solutions team, you’ll be the technical backbone behind the tools, platforms, and automations that power Canva’s global marketing efforts.
You’ll own the reliability and evolution of external platforms like Cloudinary, Iconik, and Rainfocus, ensuring they’re tightly integrated, scalable, and tuned to meet the needs of high-velocity marketing and creative teams. You’ll also design and deploy AI-augmented solutions and low/no-code automations that eliminate bottlenecks and unlock new efficiencies.
Your work will involve partnering deeply with marketers, creatives, product managers, and vendors—translating complex workflows into well-architected systems. You’ll handle platform support, solution development, observability, and governance while helping elevate technical practices across the team.
