Job Description
Location: Geraldton Port
Roster: 4 Days, 4 Nights, 4 Off
Shift Hours: 12 Hours
Type: Full-time Permanent
Based at Newhaul Port Logistics, Geraldton Port, the Shiploading Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all aspects of bulk vessel loading operations. You will ensure ships are loaded safely, efficiently, and in line with port, cargo, and compliance requirements. This pivotal role involves managing shift plans, liaising with stakeholders, and resolving issues as they arise to keep operations running smoothly.
Shiploading Operations
- Oversee and coordinate bulk vessel loading according to planned schedules and cargo specifications.
- Monitor real-time loading progress and adjust to maximize production.
- Adjust operations dynamically to maintain compliance.
- Attend productions meetings and regularly communicate updates to ensure that cargo in sheds will meet the minimum requirement
- Vetting vessels for suitability.
Operational Supervision
- Communicate with multiple, teams including operators, samplers, and contractors involved in shiploading.
- Ensure pre-loading and post-loading inspections and documentation are completed.
- Conduct pre-start meetings, assign tasks, and ensure correct handovers between shifts.
Planning and Rostering
- Coordinate and maintain the shiploading roster to ensure coverage across all shifts.
- Liaise with workforce planning to manage leave, shift changes, and coverage issues.
- Plan personnel allocation in alignment with vessel ETA schedules and operational priorities.
- Provide ongoing updates
Communication and Coordination
- Act as the central point of contact between , port authority, and internal logistics teams, providing all documentations including – pre- shipment moisture reports and forms.
- Liaise with the ship agent, surveyor and scheduler to align cargo flow with vessel stowage plans.
- Provide timely and accurate updates to relevant stakeholders regarding loading status and any issues.
Documentation and Reporting
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of cargo loaded, operational incidents, and performance logs.
- Compile end-of-voyage reports, including lessons learned and improvement opportunities.
- Maintain compliance records and ensure completion of required checklists and manifests.
Qualifications
- Experience in port operations, shiploading, or bulk materials handling.
- Strong understanding of vessel loading principles and maritime compliance requirements.
- Ability to lead teams in high-pressure, shift-based environments.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Rostering and planning experience.
