A little about the role
Reporting to the Team Manager, you will play a significant role in making a positive and lasting difference to children and young people.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Providing regular support via telephone and supervisory visits to foster carers including occasional unannounced visits.
- Monitoring and reviewing the suitability and competence of foster carers, ensuring they provide a safe, healthy, nurturing, and learning environment for children/young people.
- Ensuring that the protection of children and the promotion of their welfare is given absolute priority in all activities and that critical incidents/allegations are recorded, investigated and acted upon appropriately.
- Meeting and liaising with key stakeholders, both internally and within external agencies, including discussions with the Department.
The base salary for this position is $85,120.36 - $91,586.56 /annum (based on 1.0 FTE) + super + vehicle & fuel card (or vehicle allowance) + salary packaging options up to $15,900 per annum. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position.
About you
The successful candidate will come with:
- A recognised Social Work, Human Services or equivalent qualification.
- A proven track record in working with and/or on behalf of children, respecting and maintaining their individuality and promoting their positive development.
- Ability to communicate simply and effectively, both verbal and written, with a diverse staff group at all levels, recognising potential language barriers and cultural differences.
- Ability to work respectfully in partnership with internal and external departments, agents/consultants and training providers.
- Ability and willingness to work flexibly, including some travel.
