About the role
The Specialist – Emergency Response plays a crucial role within the Emergency Response and Operations Team, focusing on enabling effective and timely response activities during emergencies. In this role you will ensure that local response needs are prioritised, while adhering to nationally consistent standards and protocols, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders to enhance response effectiveness.
Day to Day you will
- Enable disaster response operations in alignment with established response plans and procedures.
- Ensure that response activities are conducted efficiently and effectively to mitigate the impact of emergencies on affected communities.
- Collaborate closely with local authorities, community organisations, and stakeholders to enable coordinated response efforts.
- Facilitate rapid deployment of response workforce for smaller, localised emergencies ensuring quick mobilisation and effective utilisation of resources.
- Support mechanisms for collecting feedback from field operations to evaluate response effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Foster strong relationships with local agencies, community organisations, and partners to maintain local presence and engagement
- Sound discipline knowledge gained through experience in emergency response or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage response activities in dynamic environments.
- Demonstrated experience working with local authorities, community organisations, and stakeholders to achieve common objectives during emergencies.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities including staff and volunteers during high-pressure situations.
- Analytical mindset with the capability to assess complex situations and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and foster collaborative relationships externally, internally and with volunteers.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and engage a volunteer workforce
- Ability to successfully work with and lead teams and people from diverse backgrounds to create a collaborative working environment
