About the role:

Armidale Hospital is seeking a passionate and experienced health professional to join our dedicated stroke team. In this role, you’ll become a key player in a small, specialised group of clinicians who provide life-changing care to stroke patients and their families.
Working at the forefront of stroke excellence, you’ll help deliver comprehensive, compassionate, and evidence-based care that improves outcomes and empowers patients throughout their recovery journey.

Where you will be working:
Based at Armidale Hospital each day will bring something new, from supporting clinicians and educating staff to coordinating complex care pathways. You’ll work autonomously, prioritising and managing the needs of stroke patients, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Passionate about stroke care and committed to evidence-based practice
  • A confident communicator and natural educator
  • Comfortable working independently and leading service improvements
  • Experienced in nursing or allied health, with a desire to learn and grow
  • We will provide training in Telestroke pathways, clinical auditing, and national stroke care standards for the right candidate.


What You’ll Be Doing:

As a Stroke Care Coordinator, you’ll:
  • Provide expert stroke care support, leadership, and consultation to local teams
  • Deliver education and raise stroke awareness across clinicians, patients, and the broader community
  • Help coordinate acute stroke care, including Telestroke support and thrombolysis patient transfers
  • Contribute to ongoing quality improvement, evaluation, and auditing of stroke services
  • Facilitate professional development and drive service delivery aligned with national standards
  • Participate in state-wide rural stroke coordinator initiatives and clinical networks

  • The Stroke Care Coordinator in Tamworth and Armidale (0.8FTE)
  • Neurology and stroke staff specialists

Requirements:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional
  • Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position
  • High computer literacy and strong documentation skills
