Rice&Nori Canberra are looking for an experienced Japanese Sushi Maker to join our roster. We are a sushi take away shop located in city Canberra . At Rice&Nori, we take immense pride in delivering the finest and freshest Japanese food to our valued customers. Our commitment is to provide quality, creative, and exceptional tasty sushi and beloved Japanese cuisine for the local community.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, season, and cook a diverse range of ingredients, including meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, rice, noodles, soups, and sauces;
- Assist the Sushi Chef in preparing, cooking, and presenting sushi dishes on the sushi train;
- Prepare, cook and present various dishes, including salads, poke bowls, donburi curry, tempura, udon, and bento boxes;
- Follow recipes closely and perform specific cooking tasks to meet customer preferences and request;
- Ensure proper storage conditions for ingredients, including correct temperatures and thorough labelling and dating of all stock;
- Provide necessary assistance to the Chef, engaging in various kitchen tasks and preparations as required;
- Adhere strictly to food hygiene and safety practices;
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring a tidy and hygienic work environment;
- Collaborate with and support the broader team, contributing to a cohesive and efficient working environment.
Key Requirements
- Minimum 1 years work experience as a Cook in Japanese cuisine;
- Experience in preparing sushi roll, nigiri or sashimi is preferred;
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery;
- Food Safety Supervisor or FWHP certification is a plus;
- Flexible availability – ability to work lunch and dinner shifts based on the roster.
- Have working experience in Hospitality before
