- Stream A Level 6 - 7 | $100,017 - 109,832 per annum + super (depending on skills + experience)
- + 17.5% annual leave loading
- + 9-day fortnight

What we are looking for:
We're seeking a passionate Sustainability Officer to lead and support projects that drive meaningful change and shape the future of climate resilience and sustainability in our region.
In this pivotal role, you’ll coordinate the development and implementation of forward-thinking strategies to enhance Fraser Coast's natural values and boost community resilience. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and external partners to deliver high-impact programs and influence real change.
What your day will look like:
- Lead or support strategic sustainability and climate resilience projects.
- Drive Council’s climate and environmental initiatives through expert advice and planning.
- Build organisational capacity in climate risk and sustainability awareness.
- Manage sustainability data systems to monitor and report our progress.
- Analyse & collate sustainability data to inform evidence-based decision making and policy.
- Collaborate across departments and with community stakeholders to champion positive outcomes.

What you should have to apply:
- Advanced skills in developing and drafting policies, strategies and procedures related to sustainability and/ or climate change and/ or environmental management.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Skills in interpreting and applying, legislation, policy and technical information relevant to environmental, sustainability and/or climate risk and resilience.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Current drivers’ licence
What’s nice to have:
- Local government experience in a similar role.
- Knowledge of Qld state legislation applicable to implementation of environmental planning, climate and sustainability policy into land use planning.
