This role operates on a 7-day, day-shift-only roster (Wednesday to Tuesday).

About the role
Reporting to the Tailings & Water Coordinator, the Tailings & Water Technician is responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of tailings disposal and water management systems at Northparkes Mines. This includes monitoring site instrumentation, managing tailings spigot changes and cyclone operations, and overseeing water supply, storage, and treatment systems. The role plays a key part in ensuring operational and environmental requirements are met safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
Operating and maintaining tailings disposal systems and equipment
Monitoring site instrumentation for safe tailings operations
Supporting tailings deposition plans and maintaining records
Managing water supply, storage systems, and treatment facilities
Preparing shift change communications
Liaising with production teams to ensure continuity of operations
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a High School Certificate and have experience in tailings facility operations, processing plant environments, and poly welding. You will have a mechanical aptitude, strong literacy and numeracy skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. Basic computer literacy is essential, and additional qualifications such as a forklift ticket, IT ticket, or MR licence are also advantageous.
