THE OPPORTUNITY

The Environment department provides a progressive, innovative and supportive teaching environment with strong industry and community links and partnerships. Courses and programs range from Certificate to Diploma level qualifications. Delivery is held at the Glen Waverley campus as well as in the field and on site with our industry partners. Nationally accredited programs across the department include qualifications in Environment, Horticulture and Landscape Design Conservation, Landscape Construction, Parks & Gardens, Sports Turf Management and Floristry.

This is a hands-on and rewarding role where you’ll design and deliver training that inspires, using a variety of innovative teaching and assessment methods tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. You'll also take the lead in developing learning resources and assessment tools that support excellence in delivery. By building strong connections with industry and key stakeholders, you'll ensure our programs remain relevant and impactful. Your collaborative approach and commitment to outstanding student support will also see you actively involved in course coordination and departmental initiatives that contribute to the success of both students and the wider faculty.


ABOUT YOU

  • An approved degree, diploma or certificate in a relevant vocational area, or approved equivalent qualifications, at least to the level being delivered and assessed; and
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - TAE 40122 or equivalent predecessor or successor qualifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and develop appropriate teaching materials, resources and methods of assessment based on the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence, including the ability to adapt delivery and assessment to meet student needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver plant-based practical and theoretical training across horticulture, and landscape design qualifications. Expertise in soil health and development would be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive learning environment and ensure a healthy and safe learning environment, promoting student autonomy and independent learning strategies.
  • Ability to instruct a range of students and adapt suitable strategies including multi-cultural awareness and a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and written and verbal communications skills with a demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with students, the public and industry and relevant stakeholders.
