About the role

A new, permanent opportunity for a Salesforce Technical Lead is now available at Coles.


Reporting to the Engineering Manager – Salesforce, the primary function of this role will include:


  • Working with Domain Architect and/or Functional Consultant deriving optimal solution in solving business challenges
  • Communicating and presenting ideas to others and driving outcomes that meet client and platform requirements
  • Performing code reviews of the development team to ensure best practice and agreed standards are followed
  • Involved in sprint planning activities, including work estimation as part of delivering agile Salesforce projects
  • Guiding the development team in using the latest Salesforce technology which may include Lightning, Apex, Platform Shield, Lightning Connect, LWC, Platform Events and Salesforce DX.
  • Involved in APEX development, Lightning components and complex Salesforce configuration And API Integration.
  • Working and/or coaching team members through the SDLC with respect to the solution design
  • Model key Coles values and contribute to a positive team culture


Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to the below:


Leadership/Mentorship

  • Mentor and lead the Salesforce developers in the squad
  • Promote Salesforce best practise and guiding principles for the development team.
  • Undertake Operations and Support management.


Technical and Business Process Design

  • Interpret and understand business needs, priorities and urgency and apply these considerations throughout the solution design process
  • Collaborate with functional consultant to review solutions with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide detailed solution design documentation in collaboration with the relevant technical teams (including but not limited to - domain architect and/or functional consultant)
  • Support the development team in delivery of the agreed solution design
  • Apply and configure relevant Salesforce features, tools and templates with confidence
  • Lead/contribute to proof of concepts to promote best in standard solutions and code patterns.
  • Provide feedback and participate in the Salesforce Engineering team platform maintenance activities, continuous improvement opportunities and best practices
  • Provide feedback on customisation and third-party applications/tools that should be incorporated in a solution
  • Lead / participate in regular team ceremonies


Technical Delivery

  • Take ownership of release cycles through CI/CD, DevOps process to implement and deploy new/updates to existing applications and code
  • Lead engagement / project delivery requirements for development task
  • Lead implementation of Salesforce best practises and maintain code documentation
  • Develop Apex, Triggers, Classes and Lightning Web Components, API Web Services and Salesforce declarative programming techniques


Testing

  • Provide input to the testing strategy and plans that support the business process
  • Ensure development effort is accompanied with unit tests
  • Assist in the conduct of systems, user acceptance testing and systems implementation


Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Engage closely with other business stakeholders to achieve results
  • Navigate the organisation to identify and achieve solutions to business and customer problems


About you & your skills

  • Proven years' experience on the Salesforce Platform with experience to lead a technical delivery team and have previous Technical Lead roles.
  • Experience working across multi cloud environments; Service, Experience (Portals), Marketing, B2B
  • Proven experience in successfully coordinating development team
  • Experience in defining, detailing, and scoping technical requirements with an understanding of how Salesforce fits into the overall architectural landscape.
  • Demonstrated understanding of underlying client business problems and the ability to develop Salesforce technology-enabled solutions that addresses their needs.
  • Proven experience of Apex, Triggers, Classes and Lightning Web Components, API Web Services and Salesforce declarative programming techniques.
  • Capability to communicate with stakeholders, whilst also managing their expectations.
  • DevOps (Salesforce DX) experience preferred, including use of DevOps tools such as git, Azure.
  • Thorough understanding of Salesforce development (Apex Coding, Visual Force, LWC) with knowledge of Best Practice understanding on Coding Standards, Deployments and Integrations
  • Able to work independently with limited direction and collaboratively in a large team


Commercial Skills and Formal Qualifications

  • Preferred Bachelor’s in Information Systems or any other relevant degree
  • Salesforce certifications: App Builder, Administrator, Platform Developer I, Platform Developer-II (Must have), Java Developer I or any Architect certification (nice to have)
