About the Position

As a Technical Officer at the Bond Institute of Health and Sport (BIHS), you’ll play a key role in supporting practical-based teaching and research activities across a diverse range of health science disciplines. Working under the guidance of the Senior Laboratory Officer, you’ll be responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory spaces, managing equipment and inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. You’ll collaborate closely with academic and professional staff to deliver high-quality technical support and contribute to a safe, efficient, and engaging learning environment.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare, maintain, and support the operation of laboratory, teaching and research spaces at the Bond Institute of Health and Sport, including equipment setup and in-session technical assistance.

  • Manage inventory and consumables, assist with procurement, and ensure accurate documentation of equipment usage and servicing.

  • Uphold safety and compliance standards, contribute to risk assessments, and support the safe handling and storage of materials.

  • Collaborate with academic and technical staff to support teaching and research activities, continuous improvement, and a positive learning environment.


About the person

We are seeking a motivated and adaptable professional with a strong technical background and a commitment to supporting health science education. You’ll enjoy working in a dynamic, fast-paced, hands-on environment and contributing to the smooth operation of laboratory and simulation spaces.


Key attributes include:

  • A qualification in a related discipline and, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a technical support position. A qualification in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology would be highly regarded.

  • Practical experience in preparing and maintaining laboratory equipment, supporting teaching and research activities, and managing inventory and administrative documentation.

  • A sound understanding of WHS principles and safe laboratory practices, with a proactive approach to compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and engage respectfully with staff, students, and stakeholders.


Salary details

The salary for the position commences at $71,938.46 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.
