About the Role:
Curtin University is thrilled to announce a full-time (1.0 FTE) opening for the position of Technical Operations Coordinator.
This position is dedicated to overseeing the efficient management of laboratories within the Curtin Medical Research Institute. You will play a key role in coordinating laboratory-based research, ensuring that both staff and students receive high-quality support while maintaining rigorous safety standards for all materials, equipment, and processes. As a vital member of the Curtin Medical Research Institute, you will collaborate closely with the Technical Operations Manager and the rest of the institute team to facilitate the seamless operation of our laboratories.

Who we are looking for:
- A relevant degree qualification and considerable relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Relevant degrees include Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology etc.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage tasks for timely completion.
- Proven experience in conducting experiments and working within a research setting.
- Understanding of Occupational Safety and Health legislation, laboratory safety Australian standards and office of the gene technology regulator requirements, and demonstrated commitment to applying them in a work setting.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for building professional relationships at various organisational levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with effective negotiation and influencing abilities.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex issues.
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements for enhanced service quality and efficiency.
- Previous experience in the higher education sector.
- As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
- Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
- A level of fitness commensurate with the position.
