About the role
Are you ready to take on a deeply rewarding role that changes lives?
We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated professional to join our Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) program — a specialised service within MacKillop Family Services' Out of Home Care (OOHC) Division, designed to support children and young people who have experienced complex trauma, disrupted attachments, and high support needs.
This is not your average case management role. As part of a small, close-knit therapeutic team, you’ll work intensively with carers and children to create meaningful, lasting change. You’ll walk alongside young people as they navigate some of life’s biggest challenges — helping them move toward healing, stability, and long-term permanency.
This is a full-time, fixed term parental leave position (38 hours per week until 06/07/2026) opportunity based in Preston within our Out of Home Care (OoHC) Program. The position reports to the Home Based Care Coordinator.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or related discipline is essential. Training and experience in relevant child, adolescent and family practice and/or case management is preferred.
- Evidence of a well-developed understanding of Attachment and Trauma theories, the relationship to child abuse and neglect, together with an understanding of intellectual disability and an ability to assist others to understand the implications.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated skills in working with vulnerable children, young people, families in a trauma-informed way, including an understanding of NDIS and child protection system, including out of home care service system.
