About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate VET Indigenous Project Officer.

The Moondani Vocational Centre of Excellence (MVCE) is seeking a Project Officer to champion access, participation, and success for Indigenous students in Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs. This role involves leading culturally responsive initiatives that foster educational pathways, enhance student outcomes, and integrate Indigenous perspectives across MVCE and Swinburne programs. The Project Officer will work closely with Indigenous communities, industry partners, and educational stakeholders to support a culturally safe and inclusive learning environment aligned with community aspirations.

Reporting to the VET Indigenous Project and Programs Manager, the Project Officer will collaborate with VET teaching staff, student support services, external agencies, and local communities to ensure effective service delivery. The ideal candidate will be passionate about Indigenous education, skilled in project management, and committed to building strong relationships that support student success and cultural empowerment within the VET sector.

About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Actively collaborate and with the Indigenous student services team and the VET Pathways and Engagement teams to align initiatives with MVCE priorities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous communities and organisations to promote Swinburne’s VET programs and pathways.
  • Engage with Indigenous leaders, Elders, and community representatives to ensure programs align with community needs and aspirations.
  • Actively collaborate and with the MTC Indigenous Student Services team and the VET Pathways, Recruitment and Engagement team to leverage all opportunities developed with the school community and to create a more seamless approach to schools and potential students.
  • Partner with targeted secondary schools including the Murrung and first Nations leads to promote vocational education opportunities to Indigenous students.

Qualifications
  • A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience and / or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
