We are seeking a Voids Technician to join our KCGM Operations, this residential role is on an 8/6 roster working 11-hour days.
As the Voids Technician, you will be responsible for managing the interaction of the open pit with historic mine workings and providing technical support and assistance to the mining operations with regards to void safety.
Here’s what awaits you:
Ensure that void related hazards are identified and safely managed through:
- Analysis of data from various sources to determine the location and nature of underground workings.
- Mitigation of voids associated with historic workings through methods such as deep blasting or backfilling.
- Determination of void shapes using a Cavity Auto Laser Scanner.
- Management of personnel and equipment entry across areas of historic workings.
- Review and update Voids procedures and work instructions.
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
- Experience in open cut or underground mining (preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage time-critical tasks.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- A good work ethic and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work independently within a small team.
