The Opportunity
Provide Best-in-Class customer service through ensuring the smooth running of the warehouse, handling customer materials and all deliveries entering and leaving the business as well as the efficient and effective collection and delivery of materials to and from local vendors and airline terminal as required in accordance with Company policies and procedure and relevant regulation and laws.

Working Pattern:Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week plus occasional overtime
Key Role Accountabilities
- Monitor the receipt, booking in and dispatch of all cargo / goods and record data in accordance with working procedures.
- Ensure all goods received are booked in within defined timelines and record data on appropriate systems as required.
- Ensure freight is screened in accordance with local requirements, handled correctly and is accurately identified as either Known Cargo or Unknown Cargo
- Load and off-load vehicles in a timely manner, ensuring all freight is accounted for and undamaged. Comply with Company procedures to report any concerns relating to freight.
- Assist with labelling and palletizing.
- Respond to operational team and / or customer queries as required.
- Ensure security obligations are met according to regulations and compliance. This includes checking delivery driver IDs when receiving any freight and completing the goods in check sheet, making sure that all warehouse doors are always locked and monitored, ready to challenge any unidentified persons in the warehouse immediately.
- Keep warehouse tidy and organized.
- Liaise with the Operations team to identify any changes in work instructions and / or processes where appropriate, thereby providing a reliant handling of cargo / goods.
- Undertake duties in accordance with defined processes and work instructions.
- Complete local delivery and collections from vendors and airline terminals, ensuring instructions on collection / delivery notes and / or written instructions are fully adhered to.
Compliance / Health & Safety
- Adhere to the Company health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment, vehicles and warehouse.
- Ensure your Company identity card is visible at all times.
- Carry out vehicle checks to maintain vehicle cleanliness and roadworthiness at all times, both inside and out.
- Re-fuel daily utilizing the correct fuel type and most cost-effective means, keeping fuel cards in a safe place and submitting receipts in a timely manner.
- Ensure the vehicle is returned to the depot ready for the next day.
- Respect and adhere to the standards as set out in the employee handbook and the HR Policy Manual relating to the job, attendance, time keeping and behaviour.
- Maintain and share with colleagues as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant transport law and procedures and restrictions.
- Make sure you understand and adhere to Company policies, current and new, and relevant Airport requirements including DAMP policy.
Your Experience
- Previous experience in freight, logistics, or courier services is preferred.
- Hold a Victorian MR license, allowing you to drive two-axle rigid vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) greater than 8 tonnes.
- Forklift license is desirable
- Manual handling experience is desirable
- Knowledge and experience to lift and handle freight in accordance with workplace safety guidelines.
- Familiarity with the Melbourne Airport area and logistics routes is advantageous.
- A good understanding of transport and logistics regulations, including aviation security requirements.
- Have the ability to pass security background checks, including Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) / ADA level 2.
- Have working knowledge of IT, with the ability to use Microsoft Office and bespoke company systems.
- Have the ability to work proactively using own initiative.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Previous experience dealing with varied customer base and building strong relationships.
- Ability to consider several possible options and decide on most appropriate method.
