In 2015, the Victorian Government launched the Victorian Energy Compare (VEC) website to provide an independent, comprehensive and trustworthy energy price comparison service for Victorian residential and business energy consumers. The website allows consumers to understand their electricity consumption and to compare energy offers to find offers that better meets their needs.
The Website Designer is responsible for leading the creation of a range of quality and visually engaging designs that enhance the user experience of the Victorian Energy Compare website, the Energy Bill Relief program and the Power Saving Bonus program. The designer will work closely with stakeholders, including project managers and developers to ensure the website is both aesthetically appealing and meets functional requirements.
The role requires a combination of design principles, technical expertise, and an understanding of current web trends to deliver a modern, user-friendly website that aligns with the Victorian Energy Compare brand and enhances the overall online experience.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Website Designer or similar role, preferably within government or public sector.
- Proficient in website design software and technologies, including Figma, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of website design projects and creativity.
- Strong understanding of visual design, colour theory, typography, and user experience principles.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
